Bathrooms
Our bathrooms are spacious, warm and well equipped with specialised Parker baths in all of them for the convenience of residents with mobility problems and to provide the highest degree of comfort and safety whilst bathing. Your privacy and safety are our prime concerns and nursing and care staff will give discreet assistance with all your personal hygiene needs throughout the day and night.

Heating and Lighting
Central heating is provided throughout the Home to keep bedrooms and all the communal areas at comfortable temperatures which are not less than those laid down by the regulating authorities.
Bedrooms are provided with an over-bed light as well as a ceiling light. The normal lighting in all rooms and corridors is backed up by an emergency lighting system which comes into operation if the mains electricity should fail.

Laundry Facilities
We have our own in-house laundry which ensures the cleanliness of all bedding and personal garments that can be washed, dried and ironed in the normal way. Dry cleaning for those garments that cannot be washed is done by a professional dry cleaning firm, for which a charge is made.
Bedding is normally changed weekly (but more often if circumstances demand) and freshly laundered and ironed clothing is normally returned within 24 hours. It is advisable to ensure that all clothing is labelled with the owner’s name to avoid uncertainty in its ownership.

Telephones
A portable pay-phone for residents’ use is installed in the dining room for making and receiving calls but, should you need more privacy on certain occasions, there is a telephone point in bedrooms to which the pay-telephone can be attached for making or receiving personal calls. Incoming calls can be received on the Home’s cordless telephone which can then be brought to the resident by a member of staff.
A personal telephone line to a bedroom can be arranged through British Telecom at a resident’s own expense for the cost of installation, line rental and call charges.

Other Personal Services
The services of a dentist, optician, psychiatrist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist and audiologist can be arranged on a resident’s behalf as and when required or when recommended by a medical adviser. Professional chiropody and hairdressing services, carried out within the Home, are available at reasonable charges and we provide a free manicure service as part of our normal care activities. Several of the other services mentioned above are provided by the professionals concerned visiting the Home to attend to your needs. Newspapers and magazines of your choice can also be ordered on your behalf.
